MAAP Unveils Apex Winter Cycling Collection for Cold-Weather Riders

As temperatures begin to drop across the Northern Hemisphere, cyclists are once again preparing for the challenges of winter riding. While Australian riders are looking ahead to warmer months, Melbourne-based apparel brand MAAP has released a fresh collection specifically engineered for harsh cold and wet conditions. The new Apex range promises to deliver dependable performance when the weather turns nasty.

Here is a detailed look at what MAAP has introduced for the upcoming cold season.

Apex Downpour Jacket

The Apex Downpour jacket lives up to its name, designed to keep riders dry during heavy rainfall. According to MAAP, this piece combines excellent waterproof capabilities with breathability, making it suitable for wet-weather rides. It carries a 15k waterproof rating and features a three-layer construction with fully taped seams and a PFAS-free DWR finish.

Ventilation zippers on the sleeves allow riders to regulate temperature and airflow without letting water seep inside. On the interior, a integrated skirt creates a seal between the jacket and jersey, preventing rain from entering. This design improves upon the traditional drop tail by offering better protection against road spray. The fit is roomy enough to accommodate additional layers when conditions are both wet and freezing. The Apex Downpour jacket retails for £305, $400, or €350.

Apex Deep Winter Gloves 2.0 and Overshoes

For those truly frigid days, MAAP offers the Apex Deep Winter Gloves 2.0. These gloves are built for temperatures dipping below 5°C while preserving handlebar feel through a streamlined, low-bulk construction.

Warmth is provided by PrimaLoft Gold insulation with AeroGel technology on the back of the hand, while an AX Suede palm maintains grip even in wet conditions. A Hipora internal membrane delivers breathable windproof and waterproof protection. Additional features include touchscreen-compatible fingertips and a Velcro-adjustable cuff. The Deep Winter Gloves 2.0 are priced at £140, $185, or €165.

MAAP has also launched new Apex Winter Overshoes. These overshoes feature a zipper-free design that removes a common weak point, secured instead by a Velcro strap beneath the midfoot. They combine 3mm neoprene on the underside with 2mm neoprene on top, and reflective branding enhances rider visibility. The overshoes cost £85, $115, or €100.

Completing the foot protection lineup are the new Winter Toe Covers. Constructed with 3mm neoprene at the base and 2mm neoprene on the upper and reinforced toe area, they are available for £55, $70, or €60.

New Colorways for Apex Aeon Range

Beyond the new cold-weather accessories, MAAP has refreshed its Apex Aeon collection with four additional color options. These new choices span the brand’s winter jackets, jerseys, shorts, and caps, giving riders more ways to coordinate their kit while braving the elements.

With this comprehensive winter lineup, MAAP aims to equip cyclists with reliable gear that performs in the most demanding conditions. Whether facing relentless rain or biting cold, the Apex range offers solutions designed to keep riders comfortable and focused on the road ahead.
