Pas Normal Studios Expands Porter Collaboration with New Handlebar and Frame Bags

Pas Normal Studios has unveiled two additional pieces of cycling luggage created in partnership with the Japanese bag maker Porter. The Copenhagen-based cycling apparel brand and the Tokyo luggage specialist have introduced a handlebar bag and a frame bag, expanding a lineup that already features a saddle bag, a backpack, and a tote bag.

Karl-Oskar Olsen, who co-founded Pas Normal Studios and serves as its creative director, explained the differing design demands each product presents. He noted that a frame bag leaves very little room for compromise, since both its usefulness and its proportions must be carefully balanced. Items such as a tote or a backpack, by contrast, allow the team more latitude to experiment with concepts and aesthetics. Regardless of the category, he said, every product is evaluated through the lens of a cyclist.

The collaborative bags are constructed from a blend of ripstop and Oxford-woven nylon. According to the brands, this material mix gives the bags their shape and, when paired with YKK zippers, delivers long-lasting performance.

Porter traces its origins to 1962, when it was founded by Yoshida & Co. That parent company had been established in Tokyo back in 1935 and operates under the guiding principle of putting “heart and soul in every stitch.” Every piece of Porter luggage is produced in Japan, close to the company’s headquarters, by experienced craftspeople.

This is not the first time Pas Normal Studios has teamed up with a well-known name from another field. In May, the brand revealed a pair of gravel running shoes and a hydration vest made in conjunction with Salomon, the outdoor equipment company. The footwear drew its tread pattern from gravel bike tires and borrowed features typically found in premium trail running shoes, including a supercritical foam midsole and dual carbon shanks. The two brands stated that these elements contributed to better energy return.

The full Pas Normal Studios x Porter cycling luggage range, which now includes the freshly launched frame bag and bar bag, can be purchased through the Pas Normal Studios online shop, at Pas Normal Studios brick-and-mortar locations, and at chosen Porter and Portr retailers around the world.
