Brembo GR-PRO Mountain Bike Brakes Now Available Across UK and Europe

Brembo has officially launched its GR-PRO mountain bike braking system for customers in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.

The GR-PRO made its debut earlier this year after an extensive development partnership with the Specialized Gravity team, which included input from multiple-time downhill world champion Loïc Bruni.

Riders interested in purchasing the brakes can find them through a network of authorized distributors across Europe. Brembo’s online dealer locator tool helps customers identify their nearest stockist.

**Bringing Motorsport Expertise to the Trail**

Brembo built its reputation in the world of motorsport, providing braking systems for Formula 1 and MotoGP competitors. The GR-PRO represents a transfer of that racing knowledge into the mountain biking and eMTB segment.

The complete braking system was engineered entirely in-house, encompassing master cylinders, four-piston calipers, brake pads, rotors, braided hoses, and a specially formulated mineral oil.

Beyond offering 30mm of reach adjustment and a tunable bite point, the system allows riders to modify the leverage ratio between the lever and the master-cylinder piston. Three distinct modes are available: Soft, Medium, and Hard. Rather than changing the brake’s peak power output, these settings alter how braking force is delivered. Soft mode provides a gentler, more gradual lever response with increased travel after the pads engage the rotor. Hard mode delivers a firmer, more immediate feel with reduced lever stroke. Medium falls between these two extremes.

The two-piece aluminium calipers house four 18mm pistons. A fibre-polymer insulating layer is incorporated into the design to minimize heat transfer to the caliper body and brake fluid.

The brake pads were also co-developed with the Specialized Gravity team. According to Brembo, the company evaluated 30 different compounds before narrowing the selection to three for additional testing. The final production brake uses a semi-metallic compound.

For the GR-PRO, Brembo produces 200mm and 220mm six-bolt rotors with a substantial 2.3mm thickness.

The system relies on Brembo’s proprietary low-viscosity mineral oil, which was specifically engineered to meet the unique demands of mountain biking.

**Pricing for the Brembo GR-PRO**

As a premium offering, the GR-PRO carries a price tag to match. In the UK, a set of these mountain bike brakes retails for £799. Pricing across Europe fluctuates based on local taxes, with the current rate set at €750 plus applicable taxes.

Each kit from Brembo includes two calipers with pads installed, two master cylinders with levers, braided hoses, two spare sets of pads, and all necessary mounting hardware.

Rotors and mineral oil are sold as separate items. UK customers can expect to pay £64.99 per rotor for either the 200mm or 220mm version. In Europe, rotors are priced at approximately €59.95 plus taxes each.
