Pinarello’s New X Series Endurance Bikes Promise Real-World Comfort at a More Accessible Price

Pinarello has expanded its endurance lineup with the introduction of the X Series, a range that brings the spirit of its high-end Dogma X to a far more wallet-friendly price point. While the Dogma X sits at the premium end of the market, the new X Series starts at just £3,000 / $2,950 / €3,200, making Pinarello’s endurance engineering accessible to a broader group of riders.

This second-generation X Series draws heavily from the Dogma X, a bike that commands a price tag north of £11,000. The new range borrows both its design philosophy and its geometry from that flagship model, effectively distilling high-end performance into more attainable packages.

Fausto Pinarello, president of the Italian brand, framed the launch around practicality for everyday riders. He explained that the all-new X Series marks a major advancement for Pinarello’s endurance offerings, with the goal being to address what cyclists genuinely require on long outings over ordinary road surfaces. The focus, he said, was on delivering exceptional comfort and vibration damping while sacrificing nothing in terms of performance.

**Frame technology and construction**

At the heart of the new range are the signature X-Stays, which retain the same lower attachment points as before but are engineered to channel road buzz away more effectively than the previous X models, according to Pinarello.

Buyers can choose from three distinct carbon layups spread across the lineup. The flagship X9 and the X7 utilise a generous amount of Torayca T900 fibres, which are both lighter and stiffer than what the more affordable models employ. Pinarello notes that T900 strikes an optimal balance between low weight and the ability to soak up vibrations.

Stepping down, the X5 and X3 are built with T700 carbon. This material is a touch heavier but noticeably more forgiving. At the base of the range, the X1 relies on T600 carbon, with compliance taking priority over weight savings.

On the front end, every model except the X1 features a newly designed elliptical steering tube. This setup enables fully internal brake hose routing, keeping the cockpit clean and aerodynamic.

According to Pinarello, the revised head tube and steerer combination delivers a substantial boost in torsional stiffness. The result is sharper handling and greater confidence when descending or navigating rough road surfaces.

Ride quality receives another assist from increased tyre clearance, which now accommodates rubber up to 40mm wide.

Complementing the frame’s vibration-absorbing characteristics is a new “adaptive” seatpost that provides 10mm of longitudinal flex, a concept similar to Canyon’s well-regarded VCLS post.

**Integrated storage solution**

Departing from the Dogma X, the X Series frameset incorporates a storage port in the down tube. This compartment houses a custom compact tool bag designed to hold a multi-tool, tyre levers and a spare inner tube, keeping essentials on board without cluttering pockets.

**Models and pricing**

The X Series spans five models, each defined by its groupset and wheelset specification.

The range-topping Pinarello X9 pairs Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2×12 with MOST Ultrafast 45 DB wheels. Pricing is set at $11,000 / €11,000 / 220,000 ZAR / 10,800 CHF, with UK pricing yet to be confirmed.

The Pinarello X7 combines Shimano Ultegra Di2 2×12 with the same MOST Ultrafast 45 DB wheels, priced at £6,500 / $8,200 / €7,900 / 158,000 ZAR / 7,750 CHF.

Next is the Pinarello X5, which runs Shimano 105 Di2 2×12 alongside MOST Fast 45 DB wheels. It carries a price of £5,000 / $5,500 / €5,100 / 102,000 ZAR / 5,000 CHF.

The Pinarello X3 also features Shimano 105 Di2 2×12 but swaps in DT Swiss A1800 DB wheels. It is priced at £4,000 / $4,750 / €4,500 / 90,000 ZAR / 4,400 CHF.

Finally, the entry-level Pinarello X1 uses mechanical Shimano 105 2×12 and MOST Fast 27 DB wheels. At £3,000 / $2,950 / €3,200 / 64,000 ZAR / 3,150 CHF, it represents the most affordable route into Pinarello’s endurance family.

With the X Series, Pinarello appears to be making a clear statement: the comfort and composure of a premium endurance machine no longer has to come with a premium-only price tag.
