Tesla FSD v15 to Strengthen Proactive Hazard Avoidance Capabilities
On September 12, 2026, Tesla announced that it will upgrade safety features in its upcoming FSD v15 release. The version is led by Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s head of AI, with a focus on improving the timeliness of hazard prediction, system response speed, and collision avoidance capabilities. FSD v15 adopts a larger-scale neural network, strengthens the coordination between prediction and control, and has already been tested in real-world conditions across the Robotaxi fleet. Some safety features, such as Automatic Collision Evasion, have already been pushed to customer vehicles, enabling automatic intervention during manual driving. Elon Musk previously stated that the safety goal for v15 is to be ten times safer than a human driver.
