Debian 13.7 Released with Linux Kernel 6.12 and Over 100 Security Updates

The Debian Project has announced the release of Debian 13.7, the latest point update to its stable distribution. The new version upgrades the Linux ABI to 6.12.107+deb13 and incorporates 106 security advisories, spanning DSA-6381 through DSA-6486. These updates address vulnerabilities across a range of core components, including Chromium, Firefox ESR, qemu, glibc, and curl.

The primary goal of this release is to patch security flaws, memory leaks, and buffer overflow risks that have been identified since the previous point update. By rolling these fixes into the stable branch, Debian ensures that users benefit from a more secure and reliable system without needing to make significant changes to their existing installations.

Existing users can upgrade to Debian 13.7 through the standard system update process. No reinstallation is required, as the update is delivered as part of the regular package management workflow. For those installing Debian for the first time, the 13.7 installation images are available directly, which helps reduce the number of post-install patches and updates needed to bring the system fully up to date.

Debian 13, codenamed Trixie, was initially released in 2025 and is slated to receive support through 2030. This long-term support window gives users and organizations a stable foundation for their systems, with regular point releases like 13.7 ensuring that security and stability updates continue to flow throughout the distribution’s lifecycle. The project continues to recommend that all users apply the latest updates promptly to maintain the security and integrity of their systems.
