Changan Auto Unveils “Tianshu Navigation” ADAS Solution, Plans Overseas Launch of Highway NCA Next Year

At its annual Technology and Ecosystem Conference held on September 4, Changan Automobile officially unveiled its fully self-developed intelligent driving assistance system, named “Tianshu Navigation” (or “Tianshu Pilot”). The new solution is designed to cover a broad spectrum of driving scenarios, including highway NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist), urban NCA, and all-scenario parking assistance.

The company outlined a phased rollout plan for the technology. High-speed NCA functions are scheduled to debut in overseas markets as early as 2027, while urban NCA capabilities will be introduced in a subsequent phase. To ensure both regulatory compliance and optimal system performance across different regions, Changan will establish dedicated local data centers abroad. These facilities are intended to enable end-to-end data processing, supporting everything from data collection and model training to over-the-air updates—all within the legal frameworks of the respective markets.

This strategic push into international markets is underpinned by Changan’s surging overseas sales momentum. In August, the automaker delivered 92,400 vehicles abroad, marking a substantial year-on-year increase of 78.6 percent. This marks the seventh consecutive month of sustained year-on-year growth in its global sales figures, underscoring the brand’s strengthening footprint across key regions.

The introduction of “Tianshu Navigation” signals Changan’s broader ambition to transition from a conventional automaker to a technology-driven mobility leader. By developing the system completely in-house, the company aims to maintain tighter control over its software stack and data ecosystem—an approach that is increasingly critical as global automotive markets shift toward software-defined vehicles.

Industry analysts note that Changan’s decision to prioritize overseas markets for its advanced driving features reflects a dual strategy: capitalizing on growing international demand for intelligent vehicles, while also navigating the complex and often stricter regulatory environments outside its home market. The planned data centers are expected to play a pivotal role in this process, ensuring that all data handling complies with local privacy laws and that system capabilities are optimized for regional road conditions and driving behaviors.

Looking ahead, Changan says it will continue to expand the geographic coverage and functional reach of its intelligent driving suite. The company is also investing in partnerships and infrastructure to support the long-term deployment of its ADAS technology, with a clear focus on delivering safe, reliable, and scalable solutions to drivers worldwide. As the race for autonomous driving leadership intensifies among global automakers, Changan’s latest move underscores its commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation while cultivating a truly global presence.
