Tata Consultancy Services to Build 1GW AI Data Center Campus in Hyderabad
On September 5, 2026, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services firm, announced that its subsidiary HyperVault has secured a 264-acre land parcel in Hyderabad to develop an AI-focused data center campus with a planned capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW). The project will be executed in phases, allowing the infrastructure to adapt to evolving client computing demands and technological advancements.
The facility is designed to support large-scale AI training, inference workloads, and high-performance computing applications. Once fully operational, it is expected to rank among India’s largest and most advanced AI infrastructure hubs, significantly boosting the country’s digital backbone.
The total investment for the project is estimated at approximately 700 billion Indian rupees, equivalent to around 49.79 billion Chinese yuan (or roughly $8.5 billion USD). Beyond bolstering TCS’s service delivery capabilities, the campus is projected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region, contributing to Hyderabad’s emergence as a premier technology destination.
This strategic expansion aligns closely with TCS’s recent five-year collaboration agreement with German automotive giant Porsche, focused on AI-driven solutions. By developing dedicated, high-capacity infrastructure, TCS aims to accelerate innovation in areas such as connected vehicles, autonomous driving technologies, and predictive maintenance for the luxury carmaker and other global clients.
Industry analysts view this move as a decisive step for TCS to strengthen its competitive positioning in the rapidly growing AI-as-a-service market. With hyperscale data centers becoming the backbone of next-generation digital economies, TCS’s investment underscores a broader trend among Indian IT majors to own core infrastructure assets rather than relying solely on third-party cloud providers.
The Hyderabad campus will incorporate green building standards and energy-efficient cooling systems, in line with TCS’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. The first phase of construction is slated to begin early next year, with initial capacity becoming available by 2028. Once completed, the site will serve as a global delivery center for TCS’s AI and machine learning projects across sectors including banking, healthcare, and manufacturing.
