Profile Design Unveils Clip-On Aerobar Extensions for Zwift Ride Smart Bike

Indoor cycling enthusiasts who want to squeeze out every possible aerodynamic advantage now have a new upgrade option. Profile Design has introduced the Supersonic Aerobar, a clip-on extension set engineered specifically to mount onto the Zwift Ride smart bike frame, allowing riders to adopt a more aerodynamic posture while training indoors.

Constructed from forged alloy, the Supersonic Aerobar tips the scales at 222g. According to Profile Design, the extensions offer a 42mm stack height and allow width adjustments of up to 37mm, giving users room to dial in their preferred setup.

A standout feature of the new aerobar is its built-in compatibility with Zwift Click controllers. The package ships with Clicks included, meaning riders can operate their Zwift Cog directly from the extensions. This eliminates the need to shift hand position to reach the levers integrated into the Zwift Ride whenever they want to make gear changes.

The system also incorporates a Zwift Tray that comes integrated with the aerobars. This tray takes the place of the Zwift Ride’s standard phone holder and creates the mounting surface required to attach the extensions to the bike’s handlebar. Profile Design has opted for a ski-bend style configuration, complete with anti-slip grips. The company also emphasizes that the design offers extensive adjustability, letting cyclists fine-tune both their riding position and the positioning of the Ergo+ armrest pads.

Pricing for the Zwift Ride Supersonic Aerobar has been set at £220 in the UK, $275 in the US, and €245 in Europe. Pre-orders are open now.

To put that cost in perspective, the Zwift Ride frame on its own—without a turbo trainer—retails for £749 / $800 / €800. That means the Supersonic Aerobar represents a fairly significant additional investment, particularly given that the aerodynamic benefits it delivers on a stationary bike are likely to be minimal at best.

It’s also worth noting that some rival products come with extension-ready bars straight out of the box. The Wattbike Atom 2 is one example, and even certain entry-level indoor bikes from brands like Schwinn include built-in extensions. By contrast, neither the Tacx Neo Bike Plus nor the Wahoo Kickr Bike Pro offer extensions as part of their standard setups.

For Zwift Ride owners who prioritize replicating their outdoor aero position during indoor sessions, the Supersonic Aerobar provides a purpose-built solution. However, those simply looking to improve their indoor training experience may find the price hard to justify given the limited performance gains involved.

The launch reflects a growing trend in the indoor cycling market, where manufacturers are increasingly catering to dedicated riders who want their smart bikes to mirror the fit and feel of their road or triathlon setups. Whether that level of realism is worth the premium is a decision each rider will have to make for themselves.

Profile Design’s move also highlights the expanding ecosystem around Zwift’s hardware offerings. As the platform continues to grow beyond software and into physical products, third-party accessory makers are stepping in to fill niche gaps—and aerobar extensions represent one of the more specialized examples of that trend.

With pre-orders now live, those eager to add a more aggressive, time-trial-style position to their Zwift Ride can secure their set ahead of general availability.
