Rouvy Expands Zwift Hardware Compatibility and Adds TrainerRoad Workouts Ahead of Indoor Cycling Season

Rouvy has unveiled a series of updates in preparation for the indoor cycling season, headlined by broader compatibility with Zwift hardware, support for TrainerRoad structured workouts, additional real-world courses, and fresh opportunities for group training and social interaction.

Even as it opens its platform to Zwift’s equipment ecosystem, Rouvy maintains that its core identity remains rooted in realistic riding simulation, setting it apart from Zwift’s more game-like approach.

The two brands are anticipated to keep running as separate services, each with its own subscription model and development strategy. Nevertheless, this collaboration could deliver tangible advantages on both sides, simplifying the process for riders who want to use either platform without overhauling their existing setup.

Rouvy emphasizes that cyclists who already own Zwift devices will gain an additional software choice, rather than being locked into Zwift’s ecosystem.

Smart trainers equipped with Zwift’s Cog and Click components will now be compatible with Rouvy’s platform, giving users access to virtual gear shifting and handlebar-mounted controls.

Additionally, the Zwift Ride can serve as a complete indoor training solution on Rouvy, which may make the hardware more appealing to riders interested in alternating between—or at least sampling—both platforms.

To further encourage cross-platform participation, Rouvy has confirmed that 25 percent of ‘EXP’ points accumulated on one platform will carry over to the user’s account on the other, rewarding effort regardless of which service is used.

Compatible equipment will also be sold through Rouvy’s online store. Starting September 9, customers can purchase a Zwift Ride Rouvy Edition, which includes Rouvy-branded stickers.

TrainerRoad Integration Now Available

Rouvy has integrated support for TrainerRoad’s structured training sessions, allowing users to follow their prescribed workouts while navigating Rouvy’s real-world routes.

This means cyclists can merge TrainerRoad’s methodical training plans with Rouvy’s video footage and gradient simulation, instead of grinding through workouts in a more sterile virtual setting.

Both companies describe the integration as a way to boost enjoyment during indoor sessions by pairing structured training with a stronger sense of immersion.

Route Library Grows with New Destinations

Rouvy is broadening its collection of routes, with upcoming additions covering Morocco, India, and Patagonia.

Several new routes will be marked with an ‘Enhanced’ label. According to Rouvy, this designation indicates courses that have undergone major visual upgrades, offering finer detail and better speed-adjustment processing.

As a practical example, a route originally recorded at 20km/h but ridden virtually at 40km/h should now display less visual distortion—an issue that has frustrated many users.

The full library is expected to receive these enhancements within roughly a year.

Responding to user input, Rouvy has also introduced a ‘Ride Later’ collection, letting cyclists save routes they intend to ride in the future without immediately adding them to their favorites.

Clubs, Communities, and Pro Rides

During the northern hemisphere’s summer off-season, Rouvy rolled out ‘Clubs’, ‘Communities’, and social chat capabilities. Since launch, users have established 850 clubs and 130 communities.

The next feature on the horizon is ‘Club Challenges’, set to debut this fall, which will allow groups to compete against one another.

October will also mark the beginning of a series of rides featuring professional cyclists. The lineup includes 2026 Paris-Roubaix champion Wout van Aert and Victor Campenaerts, both of Team Visma-Lease a Bike, alongside 2026 Tour de France green jersey winner Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek). Rouvy says the complete schedule of pro group rides will be revealed soon.
