Panaracer AGXERO Road Tyres Launched with Low Rolling Resistance and Durability for Clincher and Tubeless Riders

Panaracer has expanded its road tyre lineup with the introduction of the AGXERO, a new model engineered to deliver a blend of minimal rolling resistance, dependable puncture defence, and long-lasting durability. According to the Japanese manufacturer, this could be the only tyre that most cyclists will ever need for year-round riding.

The AGXERO builds upon the foundation laid by the Agilest Fast, a tyre that earned a top-five ranking from Bicycle Rolling Resistance for both its durability and rolling resistance performance. Rather than simply tweaking an existing design, Panaracer has developed the AGXERO from scratch, incorporating its newly formulated ZSG Agile-X compound, which was created at the company’s facility in Japan. This compound preserves the speed-oriented characteristics of the earlier Agilest while placing greater emphasis on longevity, puncture resistance, and a redesigned tread pattern that Panaracer claims delivers exceptional grip.

**Dual Focus on Clincher and Tubeless**

Unlike some competitors who have shifted their attention exclusively toward tubeless technology, Panaracer has taken a parallel approach, developing premium options for both clincher and tubeless configurations within the AGXERO range. Both variants share the same newly developed rubber compound and utilise the lightweight AX-Alpha casing technology, which features a single-layer 120 TPI construction.

Panaracer describes the new compound as an “ultra-fine, high-density cord construction” that offers remarkable flexibility and ride quality. This sophisticated structure enables the tyre to soak up road imperfections effectively while preserving a fast and responsive feel.

**Key Specifications at a Glance**

  • Designed and produced in Japan
  • Claimed clincher weight starting at 230g
  • Claimed tubeless weight starting at 270g
  • Offered in 28c and 30c sizes
  • AX-Alpha casing for a supple, lively ride
  • Better puncture resistance than earlier Agilest models
  • Priced at £49.99 for clincher and £64.99 for tubeless

The tubeless iteration also incorporates an airtight layer integrated into the casing, allowing the tyre to hold pressure effectively while retaining the comfortable ride characteristics of its clincher counterpart.

**Stronger Puncture Protection**

According to Panaracer, a brand-new lightweight puncture protection layer sits directly beneath the tread, offering defence against road debris without sacrificing rolling efficiency.

**Tread Design Refined with Professional Input**

The freshly developed tread pattern combines a slick central zone for reduced resistance with understated shoulder texturing aimed at improving rider feedback and boosting confidence when cornering. Panaracer states that the tread was refined using input from both professional and amateur cyclists, and that it provides reassurance when riders push hard through corners or face varying road surfaces.

**Weights and Pricing Compared**

Panaracer quotes claimed weights of 230g and 260g for the 28c and 30c clincher versions respectively, while the tubeless options are listed at 270g and 300g. During testing, the tyres weighed in at 258g for a pair of 30c clinchers and 286g for the tubeless set.

For context, Continental’s GP5000 in a 30mm size carries a claimed weight of 260g for the clincher and 300g for the tubeless version. On price, the AGXERO also stacks up favourably: at £49.99 / $84.99 for the clincher and £64.99 / $104.99 for the tubeless, they undercut the market-leading GP5000, which has a recommended retail price of £79.99 / $109 for the TR (tubeless) model and £54.99 / $85.95 for the clincher.

With its combination of Japanese craftsmanship, competitive pricing, and a design philosophy that caters to both clincher and tubeless riders, the AGXERO positions itself as a compelling option for cyclists seeking a single tyre capable of handling everything from fast group rides to everyday training in mixed conditions.
