Lezyne Road Drive 500 Review: A Credit Card-Sized Bike Light with Serious Brightness

Lezyne has introduced a compact new front light that delivers impressive performance despite its diminutive footprint. The Road Drive 500 measures a mere 86mm in length, 54mm in width, and just 12mm in thickness, weighing only 75 grams. Despite these modest dimensions, it can produce a maximum brightness of 500 lumens.

The integrated 1100mAh battery offers substantial endurance, delivering as much as 35 hours of operation when set to the 15-lumen Femto flash setting. When running at its full 400-lumen constant mode, riders can expect approximately 1.5 hours of use.

For cyclists seeking extended riding time beyond what the built-in 1100mAh cell can deliver, the Road Drive 500 works seamlessly with Lezyne’s Infinite Light Power Pack+ lineup.

Aerodynamic Engineering

According to Lezyne, this light outperforms every other front-facing model that connects via a quarter-turn mount—whether that’s a Garmin or Wahoo system—when it comes to aerodynamic efficiency.

The unit pairs well with Lezyne’s aluminium Flexi Forward Mount and Flexi Aero Mount. The Aero variant works with the majority of two-bolt mounting configurations found on integrated cockpits, while the Flexi Forward is designed for traditional round handlebars.

Build Quality and Performance

The light’s construction appears premium, featuring CNC-machined aluminium and a crystal lens that delivers surprisingly effective illumination for a device of this size.

Included with the light is a quarter-turn adapter for action-camera mounts, allowing it to be positioned beneath your cycling computer.

The Road Drive 500 carries an IPX7 waterproof rating and includes a USB-C charging port. Additionally, it has a battery that users can replace themselves, satisfying the European Union’s battery regulation (2023/1542).

Pricing and Availability

The Road Drive 500 retails for £60 in the UK or $59.99 in the US. The Flexi Mount and Flexi Aero Mount are each available for £50 / $49.99.
