ImmVira Files for Hong Kong IPO a Third Time, Betting on Oncolytic Immunotherapy and Engineered Exosome Therapies

ImmVira Pharma has submitted a fresh listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, marking its third attempt at an initial public offering in the city. Citigroup and CICC are acting as joint sponsors for the deal, which was filed in September 2026.

Founded in 2015, the company has positioned itself at the intersection of two cutting-edge fields: oncolytic immunotherapy and engineered exosome therapeutics. As of July 7, 2026, ImmVira’s pipeline consists of seven self-developed products, according to its filing.

The most advanced asset is MVR-T3011, an oncolytic virus candidate currently in Phase II clinical trials. It is being developed to target bladder cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, two areas with significant unmet medical need. Beyond its viral platform, the company has also built a portfolio of exosome-based products that have received INCI certification, including MVR-EX103, MVR-EX104 and MVR-EX105.

ImmVira is pushing forward with a series of clinical trials and investigational new drug applications. Looking ahead, the company expects to begin rolling out overseas commercialization in stages starting from 2027, a timeline that underscores its ambition to compete in global markets rather than confine itself to China.

A notable strength behind the company is its founder and current CEO, Zhou Guoying, who is recognized as one of the core inventors of T-VEC, the first oncolytic virus therapy approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. That pedigree lends credibility to ImmVira’s technical approach and may help explain the sustained investor interest that has kept its IPO ambitions alive despite two previous lapses.

The Hong Kong listing, if successful, would provide ImmVira with the capital needed to advance its clinical programs and prepare for international launches. Still, the company faces the familiar challenges of drug development: lengthy timelines, regulatory hurdles and the inherent risk that not every candidate will succeed. Its ability to convert a promising pipeline into approved therapies will ultimately determine whether this third attempt at going public becomes a lasting milestone or merely another step in a longer journey.
