On September 7, Xiaomi held its autumn flagship launch event in Beijing, where company founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun officially introduced four new Pengcheng vehicles: the N70 Pro, N70 Max, N90 Max, and the all-new N90 Max Explorer Edition. Two flagship devices powered by the Xuanjie O3 chip were also unveiled: the new foldable flagship Xiaomi 18 Fold and the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max.

The products showcased at the event represent the culmination of Xiaomi’s in-house foundational technologies. The Pengcheng series is built on three core technologies within Xiaomi’s Kunlun technical architecture, pioneering an “intelligent variable large space” concept that establishes a new category proposed independently by a Chinese brand for the intelligent mobility era. Both Xuanjie-powered devices debut with the AI flagship processor Xuanjie O3, described as the most powerful mobile processor currently on the market. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is the first device to bring together three proprietary technologies: the Xuanjie O3 chip, HyperOS 4, and the Xiaomi MiMo on-device large model.

Lei Jun stated at the event that as a technology company spanning smartphones, automobiles, and home appliances, Xiaomi will continue to increase investment in core technology research and development, adhering to its “human-car-home full ecosystem” strategy to deliver unparalleled product experiences to users worldwide.

The four Pengcheng vehicles are now officially on sale. The N70 Pro starts at 209,900 yuan, the N70 Max at 239,900 yuan, the N90 Max at 269,900 yuan, and the N90 Max Explorer Edition at 299,900 yuan, with sales beginning at 10 PM on September 7. The Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable phone starts at 10,999 yuan and will go on sale September 10. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max starts at 4,799 yuan, or 4,299 yuan with national subsidies, and is available now.

During the initial sales period, the N70 Pro comes with 63,000 yuan in benefits including front-row rotating seats, Nappa leather, wheel and paint selection vouchers, and lifetime free HAD assisted driving. The N70 Max adds 67,000 yuan in benefits including an independent compressor refrigerator and anti-glare rearview mirror. The N90 Max includes 81,000 yuan in benefits such as second-row zero-gravity seats. The N90 Max Explorer Edition offers 43,000 yuan in benefits including electric welcome pedals and selection vouchers.

The Pengcheng family matrix is now fully formed, creating a new “intelligent variable large space” category. On July 30, Xiaomi Auto held its second technology conference in five years, detailing the Kunlun technical architecture and launching the first Pengcheng model, the N90 Max. At the September event, Lei Jun focused on the two N70 series vehicles and introduced the N90 Max Explorer Edition with its native-design electric pop-up roof cabin.

The Pengcheng N70 is a mainstream SUV described as appropriately sized, easy to drive, and comfortable to ride. It measures 4,960mm long, 1,998mm wide, with a 2,950mm wheelbase, offering the same intelligent variable large space as the N90 series, supporting multiple configurations including face-to-face seating. The N70 series features a large five-seat layout with a flat floor, square configuration, and long slide rails, delivering exceptional passenger and storage space. Second-row space reaches up to 1,410mm, and with the second row folded, cargo capacity reaches 2,425 liters, enough for 38 twenty-inch suitcases. All models come standard with a refrigerator, TV, and plush seats, while the Max version adds the Xiaomi Starlight audio system.

The N70 series offers long range across the lineup. The Pro version carries a 52 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with 351km CLTC pure electric range and 1,351km combined range. The Max version has a 76 kWh ternary lithium battery with 505km CLTC pure electric range, making it the longest pure electric range extended-range vehicle on the market. All models feature Xiaomi’s 1.5T range extender, with the Pro consuming just 5.7L per 100km and the Max 6.1L per 100km when the battery is depleted. They accept 92, 95, or 98 octane fuel and are compatible with all charging stations.

The N70 Max additionally offers high-performance all-wheel drive, air suspension, continuous damping control shock absorbers, a head-up display, and a 25-speaker premium audio system.

In terms of intelligence, the N70 series is fully equipped with Xiaomi’s four-in-one domain control module, a 4nm Qualcomm flagship SoC, a 4nm NVIDIA Thor-U assisted driving chip, lidar, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and lifetime free HAD assisted driving. The Xiaomi HyperOS smart cockpit supports five-screen interaction, and the new Super Xiao Ai covers 95 percent of vehicle control functions.

For body safety, the N70 uses an armored cage body with 91.3 percent high-strength steel and aluminum alloy, reinforced with 2,200 MPa Xiaomi ultra-strong steel at 14 key positions, nine standard airbags, and emergency floatation escape capability. For battery safety, the ternary lithium battery packs in the N70 Max and N90 Max underwent 500J bottom impact testing, water wading, high-speed and fast-charging tests, and finally 55°C high-temperature full-charge needle puncture testing without thermal runaway, fire, or explosion. Xiaomi also launched its Dragon Armor Battery Assurance Program, offering a new vehicle if the battery spontaneously catches fire, collision fire damage coverage, and lifetime warranty for qualifying first owners.

Lei Jun also introduced the N90 Max Explorer Edition, a bold exploration of space based on the N90 Max. Compared to the N70 series, the N90 Max has a longer body and taller stance, featuring a large seven-seat layout with 1,705km CLTC combined range. It adds a rear solid-state lidar, rear-row control screen, and 220V in-car power supply, meeting both business and family needs as a true “land business class” vehicle. In extreme roof load testing, the N90 Max withstood the weight of six N90 Max vehicles totaling 17 tons, with all four doors operating normally, the passenger cabin structure intact, and no significant deformation of the A, B, C, and D pillars.

The N90 Max Explorer Edition features a new large five-seat layout and the only native-design electric pop-up roof cabin among domestic SUVs. When raised, the interior becomes a two-level loft with a second-level activity space of 2,110mm by 985mm and a maximum load capacity of 200kg. After raising the roof, occupants can stand upright with 2.29 meters of interior height, making it feel like a truly mobile home.

The most important advantage of the native pop-up roof cabin is safety and reliability. The N90 Max Explorer Edition underwent a 44km/h full vehicle rollover test, 10,000 open-close cycle tests, and multiple other extreme tests, with upgraded safety measures. It also features one-touch electric bed conversion for the rear row, wood-grain aluminum alloy flooring, underfloor heating, an independent compressor refrigerator, and smart electric doors.

With this launch, Xiaomi Pengcheng has released four new vehicles, completing its intelligent variable large space SUV product matrix. Lei Jun said at the event that a car is not just a means of transportation but can also become part of one’s living space, carrying work and passion, connecting career and family, and accommodating dreams and distant horizons.

On August 24, Xiaomi officially released its new generation Xuanjie chip products: the AI flagship SoC Xuanjie O3, the high-bandwidth AI acceleration chip Xuanjie O100, and the high-computing-power intelligent driving AI chip Xuanjie D100. Together, these three chips build Xiaomi’s advanced AI computing foundation for its human-car-home full ecosystem. Lei Jun stated that these three chips represent major breakthroughs in high energy efficiency, high bandwidth, and high computing power.

At this launch event, Lei Jun officially introduced two flagship products powered by the Xuanjie O3: the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max. The new mid-fold flagship Xiaomi 18 Fold is the pinnacle of Xiaomi’s current proprietary technology, with development spanning over 20 months since its inception two years ago. It is Xiaomi’s most premium flagship phone to date and the first time a mid-fold device has been included in the Xiaomi digital series.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold carries Xiaomi’s self-developed Xuanjie O3 AI flagship processor, HyperOS 4, and MiMo on-device large model, marking the first time Xiaomi’s three cutting-edge proprietary technologies in chips, AI, and OS are united in a single device. Over the past five years, Xiaomi has accumulated deep expertise in foldable architecture, with over 190 related invention patents. This five-year accumulation has produced a more advanced folding architecture fully applied to the Xiaomi 18 Fold, making foldable reliability comparable to bar phones.
