Senticell Secures $7 Million in Seed Funding for Red Blood Cell-Based Liquid Biopsy Platform
Senticell, a U.S.-based biotechnology company, announced the completion of a $7 million seed financing round in late August 2026. The investment was jointly led by Evoce Capital, Scalpel Ventures, TheVentureCity, and Capital Factory.
The company is developing a novel liquid biopsy platform that leverages nucleic acid signals from red blood cells. Unlike conventional liquid biopsies that primarily analyze cell-free DNA in plasma, Senticell’s technology capitalizes on the natural ability of red blood cells to capture and retain tumor-derived DNA. This unique approach enables the detection of early-stage cancer signals that are often missed by traditional plasma-based tests, making it particularly valuable for early cancer screening and postoperative recurrence monitoring.
According to the company, red blood cells act as a repository for circulating tumor DNA, offering a more stable and concentrated source of genetic material for analysis. This could address a critical limitation in current diagnostic methods, where tumor DNA in plasma is often present at extremely low concentrations during the initial stages of disease.
The fresh capital will be directed toward advancing clinical validation studies and further optimizing the platform’s performance. Senticell aims to demonstrate the clinical utility of its technology in real-world settings, with the ultimate goal of bringing a more sensitive and reliable diagnostic tool to oncology practice.
Industry observers note that the liquid biopsy market has seen growing interest from investors and clinicians alike, driven by the promise of non-invasive cancer detection. Senticell’s distinctive red blood cell-based approach sets it apart from other players in the space, which typically focus on plasma or urine samples. The company’s progress in the coming months will be closely watched as it moves from development toward clinical deployment.
